Then you will call upon Me and go and pray
to Me, and I will listen to you.

One of our Brazilian church leader taught me something about earnest prayer. He met Christ darling a yearlong stay in a drug - rehab - center. His therapy included three one- session of prayer a day.
I expressed amazement and confessed that my prayer were short and formal. He invited (dared?) me to meet him for prayer. We knelt on the concrete floor is our small church and began to talk to God. Change that. I talked; he cried, wailed, begged, cajoled, and pleaded. He prayed like Moses.
When God determined to destroy the Israelites for their golden calf stunt, “Moses begged the LORD his God and said, ‘LORD, don’t let your anger destroy your people, whom you brought out of Egypt.... Remenber the men who served you - Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. You promised with an oath to them’”
Moses on Mount Sinai is not calm and quiet, with folded hands and serene expression. He’s on his knees, lifting his hands, shedding tears.
And God hears him! “So the LORD changed his mind and did not destroy the people as he had said he might”
Our passionate prayer move the heart of God. Prayer does not change God’s nature. Prayer does, however,impact the flow of history. God has wired his world for power, but he calls on us to flip the switch.

昨日の夕拝、今の私、いえ、昨日の私に最も良い礼拝だっと思う。
少し、トーンが落ちていました。
いつになく。
目の前の迫った、初めての仕事と、これまで通りにやり続ける仕事と、今までとは違うことをやりたいという思いとが、ぐちゃぐちゃに絡まって、はなに、「ママ、何か怒っているの？」って聞かれたほどです。
土曜日の夕方の礼拝の賛美をリードしていたのは、一台のピアノと、ギターを抱えた女の子の声だけだった。
彼女のよく響く細い声と、静かでやさしいピアノが、私と私以外の全ての会衆の心を束ねていた。
時折、ピアニストは彼の感情を音に滲ませ、会衆は彼の音に従った。
ピアニストはずっと冷静に見えたけど、私は彼の音に彼のことばや声が聴こえる気がした。
マックスは、何も、私たちの祈りがモーセのように見える時、神はその祈りで歴史すら変えると、そう言っているにではない。
マックスが言いたいのは、神はどんな祈り方であってもいい、自由だ、あなたの真実の思いをさらけ出し、告白すべきだと、そして、その時、主は必ず、何かの形でその祈りに応えてくださるということだと思う。
